PC Hardware Balance Calculator
Evaluate architectural balance between CPU and GPU across resolutions and workloads with transparent, responsible performance guidelines.
There is no single static “bottleneck percentage” in computer science. Every system is dynamically limited by whatever component maxes out first under a given workload. In fast-paced competitive games at 1080p, the CPU must deliver draw calls rapidly; in cinematic 4K AAA games, the GPU shaders do 95% of the heavy lifting.
Primarily CPU-Bound Load
Your setup is primarily CPU-bound under these conditions. In high-refresh or lower-resolution scenarios, the CPU may limit maximum frame delivery before the GPU reaches 100% utilization.
To balance utilization: increase resolution, enable higher graphical settings or ray tracing, or upgrade to a CPU with higher single-core gaming throughput.

How to Read the Result Honestly
The output names which component limits the workload in the scenario you selected — it deliberately does not output a percentage like "CPU 23% bottlenecked". No calculator can produce a defensible single number: the limiting factor changes frame by frame with the game engine, settings, resolution and background software.
A GPU-bound result at high resolution is the healthy state for a gaming PC: it means your graphics investment is fully utilized. A CPU-bound result at 1080p with a flagship GPU is not a defect either — it simply means raising graphics settings or resolution will not change the frame rate, while a CPU upgrade would.
How the Balance Is Judged
- Analyzes relative CPU single-thread/multithread throughput versus GPU compute tier.
- Factors in target display resolution (1080p, 1440p, 4K) where workload balance shifts dramatically.
- Identifies whether typical applications will be GPU-bound, CPU-bound, or balanced, avoiding fake exact percentages.

Common Questions
Why does this tool not show an exact bottleneck percentage like 14.8%?
Any website claiming an exact single percentage for a bottleneck is scientifically inaccurate. A PC has no single bottleneck: the exact limiting factor fluctuates constantly from frame to frame depending on the game engine, background apps, graphics settings, ray tracing, and resolution.
Is having a bottleneck harmful to my hardware?
No. Every computer has a component that reaches 100% capacity first. In gaming PCs, having the GPU running near 95-100% is the intended state, ensuring you get full value from your graphics investment.
