Text Tools – Online Utilities & Calculators

Professional browser-based typography and text tools to preview, test, compare, and export fonts and text in real time with client-side privacy.

Text and typography tools here run entirely in the browser: a font tester for comparing typefaces on real copy, character/word counters, case converters, and text cleanup utilities. No text you paste is transmitted anywhere.

Testing fonts like a designer

A font preview is only meaningful on realistic content: paste the actual paragraph lengths, heading sizes, and character sets your product will use. Check the characters that break typefaces — tabular numbers in tables, accented characters, and mixed-language strings. Compare two fonts at the same rendered size, not the same nominal point size, because x-height differs between families.

Counting and transforming text

  • Word counters here follow the whitespace convention; a URL or "state-of-the-art" counts as one word. Character counts distinguish with/without spaces because platform limits (tweets, meta descriptions) differ.
  • Case converters are literal: Title Case capitalizes every word, Sentence case only the first — neither is smart about proper nouns, so review brand names after converting.

Common mistakes

  • Judging a font at heading size only — body text at 14–16 px is where most typefaces differ.
  • Pasting formatted text (from Word) with curly quotes and non-breaking spaces into a tool that counts them as distinct characters.
  • Cleaning whitespace without checking code blocks, where indentation is meaningful.
