Whitespace Remover & Text Cleaner
Clean pasted text in one pass: collapse multiple spaces, remove tabs, strip blank lines, join broken lines, and trim edges.
Cleaning runs locally — no text is transmitted.
Whitespace Is More Than the Space Key
What looks like an empty gap can be any of: regular space (U+0020), non-breaking space (U+00A0 — the one copy-pasted from websites and PDFs that breaks find-and-replace), tabs (U+0009), and line-ending characters. A trim that only targets the space key is why "cleaned" data still fails exact-match comparisons; this tool treats all of them as whitespace so the result is genuinely clean.
Choosing the Right Mode
- Trim leading/trailing only: when indentation in code or poetry lines is meaningful.
- Collapse multiple spaces to one: for display text; do not use inside code blocks or pre-formatted columns.
- Remove everything: for machine-to-machine data like CSV fields or IDs where no internal spaces are valid.
How the Transformation Works
- Paste text copied from a PDF, email, or website that came out with messy spacing.
- Enable the cleaning operations you need — each one is independent and shows its effect on the preview.
- Combine operations: for example, collapse spaces and remove blank lines to normalize a document.
- Copy the cleaned text or download it as a .txt file.

Common Questions
Will it remove the line breaks I want to keep?
No — every operation is a separate toggle. Leave "remove line breaks" off if your paragraphs should stay on separate lines.
What counts as whitespace?
Spaces, tabs, and non-breaking spaces are all treated as whitespace when collapsing or trimming.
