URL Slug Generator
Convert any headline into a clean, lowercase, hyphen-separated URL slug with accent transliteration and optional stop-word removal.
Accents are transliterated locally (á → a) before slug creation.
A Good Slug Is More Than Lowercase with Dashes
URL slugs should drop stop words ("a", "the", "de"), keep them short enough to read fully in search results, and never contain characters that need percent-encoding — accents are transliterated ("ñ" → "n"), not escaped, so the URL stays readable when copied. Slug stability matters more than beauty: changing the slug of an indexed page breaks every external link unless a 301 redirect is left behind, so decide slugs as if they were permanent.
How the Transformation Works
- Paste your article or page title.
- Optionally remove common stop words ("the", "and", "of"…) for shorter slugs.
- The tool lowercases, transliterates accented characters (á → a), strips punctuation, and joins words with hyphens.
- Copy the slug for your CMS, or download a batch list if you are processing many titles.
Example Input & Output
Common Questions
Are hyphens or underscores better for SEO?
Google treats hyphens as word separators but reads underscores as part of the word, so hyphens are the recommended convention.
Should I keep stop words in slugs?
Short slugs without stop words are cleaner and easier to share, but keeping them is also acceptable. The option exists so you can choose per page.
