Date & Time

Age Calculator

Compute exact age in years, months, and days from a birth date — plus total days lived and a countdown to the next birthday.

Feb 29 birthdays are celebrated on March 1 in non-leap years. Nothing you enter is stored or sent.

February 29 Birthdays

A leap-day birthday legally lands on March 1 in most non-leap years (jurisdictions differ — a few treat February 28 as the anniversary). The calculator states which convention it applies, so a "30 years, 6 months, 0 days" result is internally consistent rather than accidentally right.

The other common confusion is months: "6 months after August 31" is February 28 or March 2 depending on the library, because not every month has a 31st. Exact day counts are unambiguous; month-year breakdowns are conventions.

How the Dates Are Calculated

  1. Enter the birth date and, optionally, an "age at" date other than today.
  2. The tool computes the precise calendar age in years, months, and days.
  3. Totals are shown in months, weeks, and days lived.
  4. The next birthday countdown accounts for leap-day birthdays (celebrated Mar 1 in non-leap years).
Formula & Technical Standard
Age decomposition borrows month lengths from the birth month chain, the standard legal method for exact age.

Worked Example

Exact age today
Input: Born 1990-06-15
Output: 36 years, 2 months, 30 days
Calendar-exact age — the format required on most official forms.
Age at a future date
Input: Age on 2030-01-01 for a 2020 birth date
Output: 9 years old at that date
Useful for school enrollment cut-offs and age-restricted applications.
