Image Dimensions & Info Viewer

Instantly see any image’s exact pixel dimensions, aspect ratio, file size, and type — locally, with a live preview.

Read locally via an object URL — the image is never uploaded. Orientation metadata may affect browsers’ displayed dimensions.

Pixels, Aspect Ratio and What the Metadata Does Not Say

Pixel dimensions and aspect ratio are the two facts every use depends on: a 4000×3000 photo is 4:3, and displaying it in a 16:9 slot means cropping or letterboxing — resizing cannot avoid that geometry. Megapixels multiply width by height (12 MP ≈ 4000×3000), which says nothing about print size without DPI: the same file is a 34 cm print at 300 DPI or a 1.3 m poster at 75 DPI. For web work, the useful check is dimensions against rendered size — serving a 4000px-wide image into a 400px slot is the most common performance bug images cause.

How the Processing Works

  1. Drop an image or pick it from your device.
  2. Dimensions, aspect ratio (simplified), file size, and MIME type are shown immediately.
  3. A zoomable preview helps verify orientation and content.
  4. Common target-size guidance shows whether the image fits typical web or social requirements.
Formula & Technical Standard
Aspect ratio simplified via GCD; pixel count = width × height.

Typical Use

Check upload requirements
Input: Passport photo before portal upload
Output: 600×600 · 1:1 · 240 KB JPEG
Most application portals enforce exact dimension and size limits; checking first avoids rejection.
Audit web assets
Input: hero.jpg straight from a camera
Output: 6000×4000 · 4.8 MB — too large for the web
The size readout tells you when to run the image through the compressor or resizer first.

Common Questions

Does this show EXIF data too?

Basic container info only. For a metadata deep-dive use the dedicated EXIF Viewer tool.

Is the image uploaded anywhere?

No — the file is read locally in your browser and displayed from an in-memory object URL.
