XML Sitemap Generator

Turn a list of URLs into a valid XML sitemap with per-URL priority, changefreq, and lastmod — validated and downloadable.

Upload to your site root and reference it in robots.txt and Google Search Console. Max 50,000 URLs per file.

A Sitemap Is a Suggestion with a Size Limit

Sitemaps help discovery, not ranking: URLs listed can still be excluded from the index, and URLs absent can still be found by crawling. One file caps at 50,000 URLs or 50 MB — beyond that, split into a sitemap index. The common mistake is listing URLs that redirect or 404: Google treats repeated stale entries as a quality signal about the sitemap itself. Include canonical URLs only, update lastmod honestly (it is read and trusted when consistent), and reference the file from robots.txt.

How the Generator Works

  1. Paste your URLs one per line, or with lines in the format "URL | lastmod | changefreq | priority".
  2. The tool validates each URL’s format and flags duplicates or invalid entries.
  3. A complete sitemap.xml is generated with the correct protocol namespace.
  4. Download sitemap.xml, upload it to your site root, and reference it in robots.txt and Search Console.
Formula & Technical Standard
Protocol: <urlset> with <url><loc/><lastmod/><changefreq/><priority/> entries, sitemap.org namespace.

Example Output

Full site sitemap
Input: 30 URLs with mixed priorities
Output: Valid sitemap.xml with weighted priorities
Priority 1.0 for the homepage, 0.8 for key landing pages, 0.5 for utility pages communicates relative importance.

Common Questions

Does a sitemap improve rankings directly?

No — it improves discovery and crawl coverage. Pages get found and refreshed faster, especially on large or new sites with few backlinks.

How many URLs can one sitemap have?

50,000 URLs or 50 MB uncompressed. Larger sites split into multiple sitemaps referenced by a sitemap index file.
