Titles over ~60 characters and descriptions over ~160 risk truncation in search results — the meters warn you.

The Two Tags That Do Real Work

Of the full tag set, two carry nearly all the weight: <title> (the single strongest on-page ranking element and the SERP headline) and meta description (not a ranking factor, but the ad copy that decides clicks). Title length is about pixel width, not characters — roughly 580 pixels render before truncation, which is shorter than the 60–70 character rule in wide letters. Descriptions around 150–160 characters survive full display; beyond that, Google rewrites more often than it truncates.

How the Generator Works

  1. Fill in the page title, description, author, and canonical URL.
  2. Choose robots directives (index/follow combinations) from the dropdown.
  3. The live preview shows how the snippet should appear in search results, with title and description length indicators.
  4. Copy the generated <head> block and paste it directly into your HTML.
Formula & Technical Standard
Best practice: title ≤ 60 characters, description 120–160 characters to avoid truncation in SERPs.

Example Output

Product page tags
Input: Title: "Wireless Mouse X200", Description: 150 chars
Output: Complete <title> + <meta> block, no truncation warnings
The length meters confirm both fields fit within Google’s display limits before you ship.

Common Questions

Are meta keywords still useful?

Google has ignored the meta keywords tag since 2009. It is generated for completeness because some smaller search engines and internal site-search tools still read it.

What does the robots directive do?

It tells crawlers whether the page may be indexed and whether they may follow its links. "noindex, nofollow" excludes a page from search entirely.
